This Ecuadorian businessman built an empire in the banana business that led him to become the richest man in his country with the firm Exportadora Bananera Noboa, accused of alleged labor exploitation and trouble with the tax authorities. The businessman, a fierce critic of former president Rafael Correa, has also had a recognized political facet and in fact participated in multiple presidential elections since 1998 without success. He was also elected National Assemblyman but lost his seat when he did not present his declaration of assets.
