Maria Teresa Kumar is the founder and CEO of the largest Latino voting advocacy organization in the US. Leading Voto Latino, Kumar and her team have designed campaigns to register and mobilize hundreds of thousands of Latinos to participate in federal, state and local elections across the country. To date, Voto Latino has enrolled more than 1.5 million voters, and the number is growing every year as this demographic group, in which 1 million people turn 18 and are therefore eligible to vote, grows each year. As a political analyst, Kumar is a frequent participant in political panels and TV shows. This has earned her nominations for the prestigious Emmy Award for her contributions on MSNBC. On the corporate front, Kumar sits on Steve Madden’s board of directors and is a member of its Social Responsibility Committee.
