The Mexican businessman is the second richest man in Mexico with a fortune of US$32.3 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index as of August, thanks to his business in the exploitation of minerals, mainly copper, in addition to his railway division, which make up the Grupo México conglomerate. Larrea had a busy month in May 2023. First, he went from being a potential buyer of Banamex to being out of the bidding process, due to a demand for greater guarantees, and secondly, he had to accept an agreement for the AMLO government to recover a section of Ferrosur’s railroad concessioned to Grupo México.
