She was appointed governor of Banco de México as of January 1, 2022 and will hold office until December 31, 2027. The first year of her tenure was marked by the highest inflation in two decades, which has led the board of governors to raise the interest rate to a record high. He holds a degree in economics from Tecnológico de Monterrey and a master’s degree in economics from El Colegio de México. She has around 20 years of work experience in the field of public finance, with emphasis on budget, finance and debt issues. Before being appointed governor, she served as Undersecretary of Expenditures at the Ministry of Finance during the first half of AMLO’s six-year term.
