Antônio Cássio dos Santos is chairman of the board of IRB Brasil Re, the largest Brazilian reinsurer. Santos led the reorganization of IRB right after the reinsurer’s crisis of confidence in the market, resulting from an analysis by the managing company Squadra, which pointed out inconsistencies in the company’s results. The crisis brought down the entire board and led to SUSEP’s disqualification of the reinsurer’s technical reserves, in addition to the republication of three years worth of the company’s balance sheets under accusations of accounting fraud.
