Since mid-2020, Juan Ricardo Ortega became president of Grupo Energía Bogotá (GEB), a multi latin leader in the transmission of electricity and natural gas transportation. Under his leadership, the firm faces one of the most important moves in the sector this year following an agreement with Enel Américas to create Enel Colombia that will focus on renewable energy, electric mobility and public lighting. Ortega is an economist and worked with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), but he was also director of Dian, vice minister of finance and secretary of finance of Bogotá. Among his objectives at GEB is to advance the sustainability agenda.
