In February 2021, he took over the management of the Italian state-owned company, Ente nazionale per l’energia elettrica (Enel). The aeronautical engineer, who graduated from the University of Pisa, received a company under scrutiny by the Mexican government for its self-supply power plants and the alleged lack of fair payment for the transportation of electricity to its partners. Today the European firm has 19 renewable energy projects in Mexico, mainly solar and wind, with an installed capacity of 3000 MegaWatts (MW).
