He assumed as General Manager of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) on December 1, 2017; he was previously governor of Banco de México, from 2010 to 2017, and has left his mark on financial organizations such as the IMF. The head of the “bank of banks” often uses metaphors to predict the future. In May 2022 he warned of a “Green Swan”, a financial crisis caused by climate change, and in Jackson Hole he called on central bankers to focus on reducing inflation and act like those pilots who have to take the plane to a stable zone when it can no longer go beyond a certain altitude.
