Indira Kempis

Indira Kempis is today one of the most visible faces of the crypto crusade in Mexico, alongside corporate voices such as Bitso’s leaders and billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego. A member of the Movimiento Ciudadano political party and currently senator for Nuevo León state, in northern Mexico, she proposes to make bitcoin a legal tender in the country. Kempis faces a financial authority that for the moment has preferred to mark a healthy distance from cryptocurrencies, however. In the summer she presented two reform initiatives to achieve this goal, although there is no certainty about them coming up for discussion.
