José Olympio Pereira has been president of Banco J. Safra since January 2023. The executive leads the wholesale operations and the investment banking and private banking areas of the Safra Group. Olympio was president of Credit Suisse Brazil, where he worked for 18 years until the end of 2021. He began his career at Banco Garantia, where he worked for 13 years. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and an MBA from Harvard Business School. His family is linked to literature and the Brazilian publishing market. He was named after his grandfather, José Olympio Pereira Filho, founder of the José Olympio publishing house, today part of the Record group. His father, Geraldo Jordão Pereira, founded the Sextante publishing house, which is run by the executive’s brothers.
