From his position at the World Bank, the Colombian economist promotes economic growth in the region and poverty reduction, among other challenges that emerged after the pandemic, such as the supply chain crisis, the rising cost of living and high interest rates. The executive has more than two decades of experience in the multilateral organization, where he has held various positions such as director of the World Bank for Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda, based in Nairobi. According to the World Bank, he oversees relations with 31 countries and a portfolio of ongoing projects, technical assistance and grants of close to US$32 billion.
