There is only one primary aluminum producer in Argentina and it is Aluar, chaired by Javier Madanes Quintanilla, one of the 20 richest people in the country (with a fortune of US$590 million) according to the Forbes registry. With more than 2,100 employees, Aluar produces 460 thousand tons of aluminum per year, a figure that makes it one of the main aluminum manufacturers in South America. The company exports 70% of its production, while the remainder is used to supply the domestic market. Madanes Quintanilla is also the owner of Fate, the renowned tire maker.
