He is the CEO of the leading private electricity producer in Mexico. The operation represents 8% of the Spanish company’s total revenues. The company assumed a commitment of US$5 billion in investment for this six-year term, however, at the end of 2020, the Spanish giant stated that it would not make new investments if the Mexican government did not want foreign capital. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in addition to promoting legal actions that affect this and many other similar operations, has intensified criticism of the company for alleged subsidies and overpricing in previous years.
