Rogério Xavier, one of the best-known managers in the Brazilian market, is one of the founding partners of SPX Capital, which has some 70 billion reais (US$14.1 billion) in assets under management. In 2023, the house’s flagship fund, Nimitz, shows losses in the year to June. The performance prompted Xavier to offer a “mea culpa” in a letter to shareholders in July 2023. Still, the Nimitz multimarket racked up gains of 332.1% since inception, or 200% of CDI. In his career in the financial market, Xavier worked at investment bank Garantia between 1985 and 1988 and at BBM between 1989 and 2010. At the latter, he was Director in charge of Treasury between 1997 and 2007.
