The project began in Lima with the aim of harnessing the talent of women who live in vulnerability and train them in web development, and thus promote their insertion into the labor force. Mariana Costa seeks to promote a diverse digital economy that is inclusive and competitive in Latin America. In addition to Peru, Laboratoria also operates in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. By 2021 it had more than 2.000 graduates, a ratio of 83% of employability since 2018, and more than 800 firms have contracted its alumni. The success rate has been acknowledged by Barack Obama and it has regional allies including BlackRock, Cisco, IBM, Google.org, among others.
