The decrease in passenger traffic due to the pandemic (-46% in June 2021 against 2020, for example), has not stopped the flight plan of Copa Holdings, chaired from Panama by Pedro Heilbron. The airline is looking to renew its fleet and has been recalling and selling its older aircraft. Despite the pandemic, Heilbron is keeping its sights on reaching 83 aircrafts by the end of the year, including several Boeing 737 MAX 9s. On the financial side, Copa begins to see a slight improvement in its income and at the end of the second quarter of 2021 it had resumed flights to 60 destinations (of the 80 it had prior to the pandemic).
