According to Bloomberg, Carlos Pellas is Nicaragua’s first billionaire with a conglomerate whose sales have been equivalent to 13% of Nicaragua’s GDP. His Pellas Group controls more than 20 companies, including sugar mills, where they produce ethanol and the raw material for his flagship brand: Flor de Caña. The group also has interests in real estate, tourism developments, and the financial industry. With Flor de Caña, Pellas launched a global initiative a few weeks ago: Zero Waste Month, with which he proposes to create sustainable cocktails to reduce all kinds of waste.
