This aerospace engineer worked on the development of robotic hands to collect materials on the surface of Mars, seeking to answer the question of whether there was ever life on the surface of the red planet. Trujillo moved to the US at age 17 without knowing English and paid for college cleaning houses. Today she is considered one of the most important Hispanic scientists not only because of her contributions from her position at NASA, but because of her role as an inspiration for a new generation of scientists in Latin America.
