Since 2016 Velásquez has been the president of the jewel in the GEA’s crown: Grupo Argos, which controls the second largest cement producer in Latin America, Cementos Argos, the energy generator Celsia, and the road and airport concessions company Odinsa. He is also a shareholder in the real estate fund Pactia, which controls Conconcreto, and has shares in the food company Nutresa and the financial conglomerate Grupo Sura, the other two large GEA companies. Grupo Argos ended 2020 with a consolidated equity of COP 26.2 trillion and a market capitalization of COP 11.2 trillion. It has 14,000 employees and about 11,000 shareholders. Their income last year was COP 14 trillion.
