Juan Carlos Escotet went from working as an office boy to owning the bank where he claims he started his career. Today, Banesco, which entered the Venezuelan banking sector in 1991 and acquired, among others, Banco Unión in 2001, has expanded to 15 countries in Latin America and Europe, where it has managed to maintain itself despite the pandemic. In the Dominican Republic, for example, it was affirmed for the third consecutive year with an A + rating (dom), with a stable outlook, by Fitch Ratings.
