He serves as president of the Mexican Banking Association (ABM) for the 2021-2023 biennium, a position he has combined with the management of Grupo Financiero Mifel, of which he has been CEO since January 2003. In 2021 his public speeches were dedicated to the economic recovery after Covid-19 and the accelerated advance of fintech, but in 2022 he changed the focus. In his capacity as spokesperson for the sector, this year he has dealt with criticism of banks that do not lend cheaply and has also been questioned about the process of selling Banamex, especially since he himself heads a group of investors interested in buying it.
