Between 2021 and 2022, David Martinez went from wanting to own 40% of OMA to settling for 30.1% and finally selling his entire stake for some US$815 million. It was a good deal for the native of Monterrey, owner of Fintech Advisory, an investment firm that, among companies spread throughout Latin America and Europe, consolidates one of the most influential figures in the international arena. Another milestone for Martinez this year was to have resisted, together with BlackRock, the pressure that Bank of America exerted for days a few weeks ago to become the main shareholder of Sabadell. In the end, BofA got in and got out, leaving the U.S. fund and Fintech as numbers one and two in the Spanish bank.
