Juana Barceló is president of Barrick Pueblo Viejo. She is the first woman to head a mining company in the Dominican Republic and within the Canadian multinational. She joined the company in 2009 as legal director, after having worked as a legal consultant for the mining project since its initial stages in 2003. Barceló has extensive experience in the legal management of the mining, electricity, corporate tax and procurement sectors. Barrick Gold Corporation’s Pueblo Viejo mine continues to advance a plant expansion project and tailings storage facility designed to extend its life to beyond 2040.
