In the private equity world, Thoma Bravo has become a leading force thanks to founder Orlando Bravo’s push to invest in cash-strapped tech firms. Bravo, who is a firm believer in crypto assets, is also betting on next-generation software firms. An example of this is his US$1.1 billion bid for Nearmap (an aerial imagery software developer). As for the island, through the Bravo Family Foundation, the Puerto Rican billionaire links Silicon Valley firms to inject resources into local startups.
