He chairs the Board of Directors of the Chedraui supermarket chain, the third largest in the country after Walmart and Soriana. The retailer increased its sales in units with at least one year of operation in Mexico by 5.5% in 2020 and 7.7% in the United States. In May 2021, the company agreed to purchase the Smart & Final supermarket chain from the Apollo Global fund for US$620 million to expand its presence in California, Arizona, Nevada and northwest Mexico.
