With almost US$8.9 billion, Juan Francisco Beckmann Vidal’s fortune is the fifth largest in Mexico, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires index. The holding company, Becle, controls the shares of José Cuervo, the world’s largest tequila manufacturer. Despite the crisis caused by the pandemic, Cuervo had a turnover of almost US$1.75 billion in 2020, compared to US$1.48 billion the previous year. A large part of the success was due to tequila consumption during confinement.
