Paz Austin swapped beer for wine. For four years she headed the Mexican Brewing Association, until in 2019 she assumed the leadership of the Mexican Wine Council, a branch that represents the interests of 65 wine producers in the country and an industry that employs 500,000 day laborers, being the second most important source of employment in the agricultural sector. Ever since the pandemic hit the industry, Austin, the first woman in this position, has been promoting programs in the industry such as digital marketing of products and the revival of wine tourism.
