Chefs Virgilio Martínez and Pía León are representatives of the new generation of Peruvian gastronomy. Martínez owns Central, a restaurant that ranks fourth on the most recent ‘The World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ list of 2021, and León runs the restaurant ‘Kjolle’. Both have other culinary projects in Peru such as Mater, Mil and Mayo. In 2017 Martínez was recognized with the Chef’s Choice award. Meanwhile, in 2021 León was recognized as the best female chef in the world by ‘The World’s 50 Best’.
