James Whittaker is president of Minera Escondida, the world’s largest copper mine. Located in northern Chile and majority controlled by BHP Billiton, the deposit increased its revenues in the first quarter to US$2,384 million. This was an increase of almost 90% over the same period in 2020. He holds a degree in Extractive Metallurgical Engineering and an MBA. His last position was Regional Executive General Manager at OceanaGold Corporation in the United States.
