The economic recovery in Spain, Carlos Fernández’s current stronghold, has paid good dividends for his gastronomic business. His holding AmRest grew sales by 26% in 2021, thanks to consumption and price increases in chains such as La Tagliatella, Bacoa, Shushi Shop and Blue Frog. In addition, the former CEO of Grupo Modelo increased his control of franchise units such as KFC, Starbucks, Burger King and Pizza Hut in the Iberian Peninsula and Eastern Europe. The restaurant business generated sales of almost 2 billion euros. In addition to all of this, he has a real estate business with Colonial, a significant stake in Santander, and his Finaccess management group.
