He took over the reins of the emporium built by his father, Alberto Baillères, in 2021. Grupo Bal includes the mining giant Peñoles, insurance company GNP and retail chain El Palacio de Hierro, among others. In the last year its oil business has faced challenges due to a shortage of rigs, while mining company Minera Fresnillo resumed operations after facing an illegal strike.
