Although David Martínez wants to maintain his aura of ‘mysterious investor’, the transactional strikes he makes from time to time keep him as one of the most relevant players in the financial world in Latin America. In the space of a year, the Monterrey-based investor managed to close a fruitful deal by selling the stake of his firm Fintech Advisory Inc. in Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) to the French company Vinci. The price for the package of shares was valued at US$815 million. This transaction could have brought him a profit of more than US$100 million, considering the price of the OMA shares he had acquired less than a year earlier. Fintech Advisory also consolidated its position as the largest single shareholder of the Spanish bank Sabadell (in addition to owning Fintech Europe, an institutional investor), Martinez also maintains his control in some of the largest media outlets in Argentina.
