Eduardo Bartolomeu has been CEO of Vale since 2019, when he assumed the position shortly after the dam collapse in Brumadinho. Previously, he held the position of executive director of logistics, integrated operations and bulk raw materials, a strategic area for the company’s competitiveness. He was also executive director of base metals in Canada. In 2023, the company announced an agreement to sell 13% of its base metals unit for US$3.4 billion to boost the division, which has been gaining prominence with the growth of electric vehicle sales worldwide.
