Jorge Paulo Lemann

Jorge Paulo Lemann is co-founder of 3G Capital, together with Carlos Sicupira and Marcel Telles, and the only Brazilian to have surpassed the US$20 billion mark in fortune, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. He is the richest person in the country. One of Brazil’s most influential businessmen, Lemann’s reputation was shattered in 2023 following the revelation of a 20-billion-reais (US$4 billion) write-off at retailer Americanas, in which he is a shareholder alongside Sicupira and Telles. The company went into receivership to renegotiate a debt of 42.5 billion reais (US$8.68 billion) with more than 9,000 creditors, including Brazil’s main banks. 3G, founded in 2004, controls beverage giant AB-Inbev and Kraft Heinz.
