Filmmaker and screenwriter Karim Aïnouz is known for his work on “A Vida Invisível” (2019), “O Céu de Suely” (2006) and “Viajo Porque Preciso, Volto Porque te Amo” (2009). Aïnouz’s most recent feature film, “Firebrand,” is his first in English and the filmmaker’s first to compete for the Palme d’Or, the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Born in Fortaleza, he has garnered prestige in Brazil and abroad. His films have won awards at Un Certain Regard, Cannes, the Rio Film Festival and Havana. He currently lives in Berlin, but travels constantly to Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil.
