Marcelo Secco is the CEO for the South Cone at Marfrig, one of the largest meat companies in the world. His vision and commitment have driven the growth and sustainability of the Uruguayan meat sector, which is the country’s main export sector with 25% of total sales abroad. Secco holds a doctorate in veterinary medicine and is president of the Uruguayan Meat Processing Industry Association (Asociación de la Industria Frigorífica del Uruguay). He has achieved international recognition for his production methods and has diversified the destination markets for Uruguayan meat, with China, the United States and the European Union as the main buyers.
