Alejandro and Marcos Bulgheroni are president and CEO of Pan American Energy, respectively. The largest private oil company in the country employs 21,000 people and has invested US$19 billion in upstream operations since 2001. During the pandemic, it inaugurated the first refinery in the country that includes the production of premium diesel, an enterprise that required an investment of US$1.5 billion. In December 2020, the company reached an agreement with the provincial company Gas y Petróleo del Neuquén for the drilling of new wells in the Vaca Muerta unconventional hydrocarbon formation. A month before that announcement, Marcos Bulgheroni publicly advocated access to foreign exchange and knowing that “rules are not going to change”.
