Lucy Valenti

Lucy Valenti became one of the most prominent voices among the Nicaraguan business community, advocating for more open spaces for new leaders in the Cosep, the country’s private sector. For more than 10 years she served as president of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) of Nicaragua, in two stages: from 2006 to 2011 and from 2016 to 2021. Until 2017, Nicaragua was on its way to becoming a dynamic tourist destination, but the industry fell due to the political conflict in the country, she denounced. Valenti’s presidency at the head of Canatur ended abruptly in October 2021, in the context of a political persecution against the highest authorities of Cosep. For now, her plans are to recover the country’s tourism revenue.
